Vegetarian Cooking is Real "Green Cuisine"

"Twenty-eight years ago, when I first started teaching vegetarian cooking, many of my students came because they had to make drastic changes in their diet to address severe health conditions. They were giving up meat in a last ditch effort upon their doctors' suggestion - you could see that they saw it as a great sacrifice." So says Ms. Shai Tamayo, CEO of My Goodness Cookies, one of the country's foremost experts on vegetarian cooking and nutrition, and a strict vegetarian herself since 1974.

"But nowadays most of my students are from Manila's mainstream society --educated young men and women who have decided on their own that they want a wholesome alternative diet for their kids or aging parents. Positive and determined, they want to make healthy changes for themselves and for the environment. There is very little need to convince or educate. they often bring cookbooks and make requests for specific dishes. The times have changed talaga."

WELLNESS 101 Corp, in cooperation with YOGA WHOLISTICS iNQ, is organizing ‘Green Cuisine’, a series of interactive, home-style vegetarian cooking classes that starts October 28, 2008 from 2pm-5pm, at Bay 3 Function Room of the Santuario de San Antonio at McKinley Road, Makati. Shai will demonstrate her popular original recipes such as ‘Sun-dried Tomato Pesto’ and will teach you how to cook nutritionally balanced meals in classes with a maximum of 20 students.
