In the midst of lawlessness, anger, pain and sadness
the idea of resolving our differences
by aspiring for actions inspired by the divine spirit
of our varying beliefs and images of God.
We must ask ourselves:
Is this action born of discernment?
Are we pursuing peace when we take arms
build warfare and machineries that kill
instead of homes and shelters for the poor
the homeless, the sick, the abandoned?
Where is God in our pursuit of a society
mired in clashes of egos?
We create our God
not in the hallowed halls of our temple
but in the community we live
amidst the different cultures
we must co-exist.
