Art Day and Art Month . . .
January 31 is Art Day and in the Philippines, February is the National Arts Month, the perfect opportunity to bring art and cultural activities to the public eye. It is also an opportunity to read this article posted by Judy Molland of the painful process that "art" has to contend to make the public realize its worth to the community. Until people and institutions understand that the creative medium expressed in the field of music, theater, cinema, the visual and literary arts, etc. are understood as important components in education and the shaping of an individual, art will remain as just a commodity (a painting as investment, theater as indulgence, music as entertainment, etc.) and the capability of art to transcend the medium and enrich people's lives and the community will be lost . . . .
