Patterns as Brain Food!
I always design and work on using patterns for my art workshops. It is always a fun and challenging creative exercise that I also refer to as 'brain food.' It is a whole brain activity which stimulates our brain. And one of these exercises is the use of 'banig' or the local mat as an inspiration.
Using the primary colors we do patterns of lines:
And these strong colors make excellent patterns for mats and fabrics!
Secondary colors (mixture of primary colors) make great designs too:
And so are colors opposite each other on the wheel!
For those with disabilities (PWDs) like mental retardation, autism, ADHD, etc. the use of this exercise allows them to concentrate (although some with autism works fast on these exercises!) and immediately connect their ideas to visual forms!
