Art Workshop for Seniors

One of my advocacies is designing and facilitating free workshops. This session was a once-a-week meet with people 60 years old and above or known as the Senior Citizens.

The Seniors in my community are composed of fun and adventurous group of men and women who do sports like bowling, dancing, tours and now they are trying their hand at drawing and painting.

Art workshops are great sessions to encourage creativity, exercise their dexterity and refresh their knowledge of drawing and colors which will allow them to utilize for enjoyment and artistic pursuits.

Some do it fast even if it is their first time.

And some take their time. There is no right or wrong pace to express one's creativity.

You do it at your own pace and at the most convenient and satisfying way.
They must learn to discover their own techniques and what works best for them. . .

And realize that even if the session is a step by step process, it was doable and the results vary and expressed beautifully. There are several ways that we can interpret the same instructions in the same manner we interpret how we perceive things and how we react to it.

What matters is that the craft of drawing and painting is a doable craft activityat any age that can be done in an hour even by those in their senior years!

This is what makes sessions like this memorable, not only to the community I serve, but also to a cultural worker like me.
