Each year, mass killing of seals are done in some parts of the world because they are considered nuisance as they compete with fishermen over the available fish in those areas. The cruel beating and shooting of seals seem out of place in the 21st century as laws as being made to protect animals and the environment worldwide. There are organizations helping them by storming government officials and lawmakers and there were several landmark court decisions. But this is not enough. We, as a community of living creatures on the verge of collapse from human errors, must now find dignity and conviction to eradicate cruelty and work together to rehabilitate our world. We must establish our ties with our land, nature, animals and link to the simple and the basics of harmonious survival in a planet that belongs to all of us.
If you can forego meat, do so. If you can forego wearing fur, having ivory furnishings and accessories, do so. It does not take much to survive. . . .
