Doing A Henri Matisse

I have completely forgotten about sharing some of my workshop sessions until I received requests to feature them in my studio blog again. So today I am featuring the favorite exercise this month: artists who interpret lines and shapes fluidly like the noted French artist Henri Matisse (1869-1954).

This still life painting of Matisse is an excellent study for children and adults to appreciate shapes, color and composition. And below is the interpretation of my 50-year-old student Ignacio using colored pencils done in an hour:

And below is another interpretation of the same painting but this time done by my five-year old student, Stella, under the painting workshops I conduct for the Creative Kids studio in Alabang.
Stella drew and painted this on an illustration board using acrylic paints in an hour!

For those in the Alabang area, please call the CreativeKids studio (for in-house and on-site sessions on acrylic painting): 7710861  or email me for specialized workshop sessions.
