I was asked in an email if my art workshop students are taught how to make their own compositions instead of copying works of master artists. Yes, children and even PWDs (persons with disability) are capable of making their own compositions and they are taught how to do that. The reference to the works of master artists is to instill art appreciation. Studying works by master painters are good exercises in techniques and cultural education. One learns the culture of the artist and his environment through his art. In the art workshops I conduct, students create their composition and paint them using the colors that they want, and they get to finish it in an hour and bring it home!
