One Hour Session with a PWD

An hour session with an 8-year old on my special workshop
involves working on lines, shapes and colors.
For less than an hour, she would breeze through
drawing, coloring, painting!

I focus more on designing visual exercises
that stimulates recognition,
repeated patterns and textures
from the elements that she sees in her surroundings.

An hour session with a special student
is not about creating an artwork
because sometimes when she finishes a painting
she would destroy it by painting circles on it,
a pattern that is familiar and comforting,
and one that is very therapeutic.

Art, after all, is not just fine arts.
It is the creative spirit in all of us
seeking release in a medium.
