I was a newbie in art when I met Mang Cesar. It was in the early 90s and one of the collectors requested for our help in the museum to authenticate/document a work. I immediately researched the artist (being a newbie then I was not familiar) and contacted Mang Cesar directly. Mang Cesar simply asked me to send over the work and he will authenticate it himself! The collector was ecstatic! Mang Cesar was a simple yet outspoken man. The advice he gave a newbie like me inspired the 14 challenging years I spent managing a private self-supporting art space.
