I call it the Gumamela flower. It was one of my favorite flowers as a kid and I remembered fun moments when I would pick some of these flowers, crush and mix them with water to make a soapy mixture for my blowing bubbles game! Of course now I prefer to capture them on my small digital camera and share with the world!
And yes, it is also a fun and exciting subject for teaching macro drawings and paintings (think Georgia O' Keeffe) for kids and adults.
