Visual artist and filmmaker Manny Montelibano one-man show "Escabeche" consists of a series of multi-media installations that explores the bittersweet experience of the Philippine diaspora. With close to 10 million Filipinos working as OFWs in every part of the globe, this migration has embedded itself not only in the national psyche but more importantly, in the daily life of the Filipino family. Utilizing common images and mundane objects such as landline telephone handsets, Montelibano delves deeper into the thematic undercurrents of this phenomenon.
Montelibano's films and video installations have been exhibited locally and internationally in venues as the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, CCP, Loop Gallery, Seoul Korea, and Open Space Art Center in Victoria Canada.
